Development Goals

A roadmap to a better and more sustainable future for all

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 international development objectives developed by the United Nations (UN) that serve as a “roadmap to a better and more sustainable future for all” by 2030. Signed by more than 190 UN member states in 2015, the agenda shapes global efforts to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.

Hockey Dreams aligns with several of the UN SDGs through our sport for development programmes.

SDG 4
Quality Education

Hockey Dreams Foundation recognizes the importance of education in shaping a better future for underprivileged children. We focus on providing access to quality education for our participants, ensuring that every child has an equal opportunity to develop academically. By offering educational support and scholarships, we contribute to SDG 4 and help break the cycle of poverty.

SDG 5
Gender Equality

Promoting gender equality is a crucial aspect of Hockey Dreams Foundation’s work. We actively encourage the participation of girls in hockey, breaking down barriers and challenging traditional gender stereotypes. By fostering an inclusive environment and providing equal opportunities, we support SDG 5 and promote gender equality in both sports and society.

SDG 10
Reduced Inequalities

Hockey Dreams Foundation is dedicated to reducing inequalities by addressing the barriers faced by marginalized communities. We work with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those affected by poverty, limited resources, and social exclusion. By providing them with access to hockey and related opportunities, we strive to create a more inclusive society and contribute to SDG 10.

SDG 11
Sustainable Cities and Communities

Hockey Dreams Foundation recognizes the importance of building sustainable communities. We focus on developing and renovating hockey facilities in marginalized areas, creating safe spaces for children to play and engage in sports. By doing so, we contribute to SDG 11 by fostering inclusive and sustainable urban development.

SDG 16
Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions

Sports, including hockey, have the power to foster peace, unity, and social cohesion. Hockey Dreams Foundation utilizes hockey as a tool for conflict resolution and social integration, bringing together children from diverse backgrounds. By promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions through our programmes, we contribute to SDG 16 and help build more harmonious communities.

Putting it into practice

Hockey Dreams Foundation actively integrates the SDGs into the programme design and implementation. We align our activities with specific SDGs and develop initiatives that address the unique needs and challenges faced by the communities we serve. By incorporating elements such as educational support, gender equity, infrastructure development, and social integration, we ensure a holistic approach towards sustainable development.

Furthermore, we collaborate with local stakeholders, governments, and like-minded organizations to maximize our impact. By forming partnerships, we create a collective effort to address the SDGs and achieve sustainable outcomes in the communities we operate in. By doing this, we harness the power of hockey to create a brighter future for underprivileged young people, children and communities.
